Oh, that part's easy. We didn't want other dragons to hunt us down.
We also didn't want our lives uprooted by suddenly having fame.

Yeah. In fact, his being there might be a large part of why we were able to argue with the dragon at all.
That or they were intimidated by my muscles.

But I noticed a shift in the dragon's expression when it laid eyes on Mr. Ilan.
They were scared of him? He's nowhere near as powerful as they are.
Yeah, I'm not sure why they looked intimidated either.

Had I lived the life my parents wanted for me, I'd just be some kind of socialite who never amounted to anything truly important.
But science? That I had a talent for. I could climb the ranks, prove myself among the greats.

One of the hardest lessons I've had to learn is to not let my mistakes haunt me.
Like you, I looked up to the dragons I read about in books. The dragons of old were so noble, so wise.
I wanted to be like them. Heck, I still want to revive the hono(u)r they've since lost.
But I don't need to kill myself living up to the idealized dragons in those books.
I've decided to do things my own way. To be the type of dragon I want to be. Flaws and all.
