Why would Bobbie specifically leave the rat outside...? Was she banking on the telepathic stuff? Well if she was coerced the rat should be able to say so. So rat why did she leave you out here? Other option is she did so by choice perhaps unaware of the tele-defenses. Or she knew but what needs such secrecy that she'd deny us all intel? Just too many unknowns. Worst case he's an assassin here to kill Abdle or Bobbie or Stein or even Maya for all we know. For extra spice perhaps Stein is sacrificing guards so he can plausibly deny it all. Or to test us, see if we'd "save" him from enemies. Less bad would be a spy after secrets. Just too many unknowns. With what little we have the safest path is to alert the guards. Whatever's supposed to happen stops dead.

Possible answers to the question that was asked:

A) Make Maya Din send the letter.

B) Try to find a crack in the wall.

C) Try to understand what the spy rat is trying to tell you with its gesturing.

D) Other suggestions.

C: I'll take our chances with the rat. We don't know what kinds of protections is in that room that could hurt Maya. And she needs a moment to collect herself.

To Maya only: Take your time, Maya. And don't worry, the letter can be delivered sooner, or later. much much later. Days even. Plenty of time for that really. the message I want to give is not going to fix the current situation we are in currently.

Also D: To Abdle only: Abdle, it's your time to shine! I have an odd idea for how we can communicate with the spy rat. Ablde, you and your amazing Door of Opportunity power is going to be very helpful here. But for your ability to activate, you'll need to sleep for like, 5 minutes. Spy rat can get in the lantern, hold you, and then Gray opportunity can probably communicate with the rat that way. I've seen him get into Nasty's head, learn her fears to manipulate her. So if he's able to do that, there's a chance he can look into spy rat's mind and let us know what is up and what to do. If you can't sleep... I don't know, ask Maya to bonk you over the head until you go unconscious or something???

Maya will test the waters, start a conversation, ask who they are looking for as she might be able to help, and from there Abdle can reveal himself or not.

D. so what of the sea creatures then? Any stories of them? It seems like the birds concerns are mostly at odds with them anyways, and the actions of the birds feels like they want to use Abdle, Bobbie, and their kingdom over forming a true alliance just so they can get an advantage over the sea life. It seems like it is pushing us to form an alliance with the fish instead, but don't fish also eat worms?

OBJECTION! There’s something suspicious about her claims that does not match what we are witnessing, and I want to hear what the other Lesser Demons say before we act

First, why does she have her master’s cane if she was the one getting hit by him? You would think Steinhardt would keep the cane after hurting her.
But let’s assume he dropped it or threw it to the ground in anger, In which case: Second, he hit her hard enough to break her porcelain face (which I must say porcelain is pretty durable) but before that, he told her not to cover her face with her hands, which I assume means she was shielding herself with her hands. If he hit her hard enough to break her porcelain face, that would mean he would have hit her hands hard enough to break them when she was shielding her face. And yet, we saw her holding the cane with no issue. Her hands don’t look broken or injured either…

Right now, I’m leaning towards d: bring up those contradictions, accuse her of lying but what do the others think?

Whatever we choose in the end, DONT touch that black liquid.

Legit points. However accusations of lying is a bit much. Poke holes, let her dig herself deep. "Well good job on getting the cane away from him but how'd you manage to do so? Especially if he hit your hands! How are your hands? Oh and is he still mad? We've got a friend with him inside!" Or along those lines.
>>
No. 1129761 ID: ebc824

>>1129758
Very good point. I got a bit too excited. Yeah poke holes, and play dumb.

Maybe rearrange the words: first ask her "Oh no! we need a doctor! How are your hands?" Depending on how injured she says it is, then we can hit her with the innocent question "Well good job on getting the cane away from him but how'd you manage to do so? Especially if he hit your hands!"

If we ask her how she managed to get the cane away from him first, she might realize that she was holding the cane just fine and say something like "he didn't hit me that hard when I covered my face"
But if we first ask how her hands feel first, she might look for sympathy points and say it feels worst than it actually is. THEN we can ask about how she managed to get the cane from him and hold it. Maybe even ask her if we can see her hands especially with how badly her face is injured, the same might be for her hands.
More likely to catch her lying this way

Not sure if we should mention about having our friend in there yet unless we absolutely have to.

A. I'm with Abdle. Sometimes being a queen means making a difficult unfortunate choice like this for better for our kingdom in the longrun. He's upset negotiations didn't go well, so we do not want to anger Steinhardt further and make him our enemy by stopping his orders of killing the maid. Sorry Bobbie. At this moment, we should just salvage what we can in terms with this bird's kingdom.

I know you feel guilt, but this is more Steinhardt's doing, not yours. I don't know what happened in there, but feeling guilt for something he did because you didn't do well at negotiations sounds more like psychological torture he's pulling you into. Kind of a "LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO" kind of thing, you know?

C, ask Robert about the negotiations. Sorry, Abdle. Bobbie is probably too traumatized to recall the events herself, and asking her over and over again is just going to have her snap at us.

Robert however was in there undetected thanks to our help and could have overheard the negotiations while he was rummaging through Steinhardts stuff. Figured since we helped him get in by keeping silent of his presence, he'll help us in return. Maybe if he recalls some stuff to us, Bobbie can be more willing to fill in the gaps.

2. Very much 2. She's our only surefire ally in the guild. Plus she asks for nothing. Steinhardt would drop us the second it's convenient to do so. Like if we ignored his next demand.
>>
No. 1130392 ID: bca617

Bobbie was correct, and I was right, it feels like Steinhardt was using that maid as a way to manipulate your feelings. Even if Bobbie said yes, that maid was going to die anyway. And he’s also been dishonest with us. For example, he seems to associate with groups that hate our guts, like the heroes guild, who currently want Bobbie dead. Joining him would be risky if the sea kingdom destroyed our kingdom, and Steinhardt betrays Bobbie by welcoming her to his kingdom to get her bearings only to be captured and sold off to the guild.

But even if he did keep his promise to protect Bobbie if her kingdom fell, he revealed the masked man velucifio who Bobbie was in costume without our consent, when we were supposed to be undercover, and he knew this. How can we be confident he would be trustworthy after doing that?

And one thing that bothers me the most that really puts me on Bobbie’s side is that I am getting more confident in believing Stienhardt has indeed been spying on us, or having someone spy on us, or we have a mole in our kingdom feeding him information. How in the world did he know Bobbie was associated with Clara? I might have my suspicions, but Bobbie, Did you at any point in the meeting mention Clara to Steinhardt at all before he brought her up?

both of you shut up, or we will turn this chariot around!
Now do some deep breathing exercises, both of you!
in, 1, 2, 3, and out.
Keep doing that, and listen here.

Abdle, Steinhardt wasn't the only person we could form an alliance with at that party. You're ignoring the multiple avenues that opened up for us after speaking with other people, kingdoms, and guilds such as the Bannisters, the fear feasters, and the Crimson Inquisitor's to name a few. And I am quite excited of the possibility to start talks with them in the future

Divelu just gave us the materials to help us start talks with the Bannisters, and I know we've been wanting to try to form an alliance with them for awhile, and this is a huge step.

Besides, I have a feeling that if Steinhardt wanted Clara dead, it would mean she is very important to the sea kingdom, probably enough for the sea kingdom to attack us if we did anything to her, and after seeing how untrustworthy Steinhardt was with his actions, I have no doubt he will put himself and his people first over protecting us in the event of a battle. If anything, Clara might be the key to forming an alliance with the sea kingdom instead if we need to, they do have a sea god after all that could help protect us since Steinhardt is having problems dealing with him. And I also want to point out the kingdom of Ever Esther. If the Heroes Guild and Bannisters don't work out, we can always form an alliance with Ever Esther instead, as that kingdom seems to be in alliance with the sea creatures, and Clara might be able to give us connections. Plus, they hate the heroes guild!

As for you, Bobbie, while Clara is someone I believe we should keep alive if we want a chance with possibly starting an alliance with the sea kingdom, or even Ever Esther since the bird kingdom and the Hero's guild didn't work out, Abdle in some respects was correct.

We are not going to be able to save everyone, and we are going to have to start making tough decisions and sacrifices. That is why we had to leave the maid to face her fate, as saving her would have further angered Steinhardt to attacking us in the future since we'd be going against his orders. It would mean more people would die: our people, if he decided to attack. Leaving the maid behind to die is going to have to be a harsh lesson you have to experience and learn, as cruel as it sounds. But it will be for the safety of our kingdom.

You also have to understand that Abdle is just afraid for the monster kingdom's future. He might not show it, but I know he is. That is why he is acting irrational. We haven't been doing well at getting an alliance yet, but I believe with these new connections we formed and knowledge we gained in the party, we are getting a clearer picture on what is going on, and we raised our chances in forming an alliance with a strong kingdom or guild

I think the best way for you two to get along is to stop leaning into the extremes of your points of views, and try to meet at the middle. For now, when you two get home, I recommend Both Bobbie and Abdle sleep in separate rooms for tonight and do some thinking.

Finally, don't mention anything about the prospect of forming an alliance with the sea kingdom, or Ever Esther to the anyone just yet. The meeting with Steinhardt has fed into my belief that someone within our group has been feeding Steinhardt information about us when he asked Bobbie about Clara.
>>
No. 1130729 ID: ce8213

I mean jeez Abdle, its not that you're wrong about sacrifices having to be made, but Steinhardt just seems like a dangerous guy. I fully expect if we had done as he asked he would just betray us the moment it would give him any little benefit. or just amused him.

You have to think about what you're actually getting for the price of an ally, or friend.

I'm not reprimanding anyone because I'm sure what happened here shook both them up a enough to realize the consequences of their actions here today, and everything leading up to here during the party. I also don't want one person thinking I'm taking the other person's side. Both Bobbie and Abdle are in the wrong in their own ways. Once they are both level headed enough, we can discuss this partnership and our next actions moving forward tomorrow.

but shoot, if this pear is here, that means Actus Opus is following us, isn't he?

Abdle, I don't want to sound untrustworthy or paranoid. But the way how you are reacting it makes you seem like you expected to be caught when Bobbie dropped you. Is there something that you are not telling us? Have you been talking to your guardian angel? It is not nice to keep secrets.

E) I- well- its just- Abdle that's really final, you know? Wouldn't you rather keep him around and make him dress as a maid or something? You know have some fun with him.

I know I can't tell you what to do, but I hate to see you act so cruel. I know you can be better than all the freaks we keep meeting.

Ah-hah! I knew I wasn't seeing things. So that eye on the lantern was Peary all along... Didn't help that Abdle was playing dumb. Did Actus Opus ask Peary to keep an eye on us? How does he feel about that?

Anyways, good job Gramleza.

A, B, E,

A: Look Abdle, pushing him off the edge will not guarantee his death. That's stupid. Satisfaction of doing it yourself will not get you anywhere, the possibility he will survive is low, but never zero.

E: You're going to have to have someone else in this chariot kill him instead so we can actually see him die. Pushing him off the edge and flying off without confirming the kill is going to bite us in the ass if he survives.

And yes, I said kill him, as much as I hate to say it, really really hate to say it and have it done. But there's a good chance he overheard some very important secrets that will make him far too dangerous to keep alive, especially when both Bobbie and Abdle were bickering like children and both let slip Bobbie can't harm anyone except herself and Abdle without thinking >>1130859 . There's a good chance Kenku have heard that from inside the chest, and keeping him alive would mean he will reveal our secret to our enemies.

Even if he didn't hear that, Kenku has already mentioned something about wanting everyone in our kingdom dead, and Steinhardt told us he joined Iron Dredge's army. He is dead set on killing us.

Hum... This means that Robert and maybe Peary heard you both bickering about Bobbie not being able to hurt anyone. We'll have to make sure they stay an ally, but jeez, I just want to say I'm very disappointed in you two right now. We are going to have to work on our trust issues if we want to protect our kingdom. us lesser demons too considering Abdle kept Peary a secret from us. We will have a long talk tomorrow regarding this

B: Bobbie, you need to keep your distance, not just for your safety from Abdle's push ability, but you need to learn that sometimes, as queen you have to make cruel choices like this that you despise and question your morality for the safety of the kingdom. People of royalty and power have to do this from time to time.

D) Whatever we decide we use NO HALF MEASURES. We either leave him unmolested and hope for friendship from unexpected mercy or we ensure he is never a threat at all. We end him as an enemy by death and eliminating his remains so no necromancy can be used or we end him as an enemy by optimism of peace and friendship. Half measures are folly which will fuel his revenge. Learn well the lesson of Caudine Forks.

A
My stance still haven’t changed. I don’t think he’s even forgiven causing havoc on the small town near our kingdom stealing things and food with Shadow Taker, only seeing our action of breaking his leg as a act of needless cruelty instead of a punishment for causing possible starvation for the villagers. He only sees it as an act of shooting the messenger. He’s lucky we didn’t chop his wings off like how some kingdoms chop thieves hands off for stealing and he can heal from a broken leg. He doesn’t see helping Shadow Taker steal things as cruel.
He did little to try and stop Shadow Taker’s more cruel actions too like killing our rats (speaking of which, spy rat didn’t vote, did it?)
Honestly, I’d probably be a bit more fine about sparing him, but I think the action of breaking his leg made us lose that option of him being an ally, or at least not becoming our enemy…
I guess I’m also speaking from experience from another quest from Absurdity where sparing an enemy hoping they become an ally, or trying to act kind to them had them betray and attack us despite our actions.

If we do spare him, send him to dungeon, he’s not going free. Not with his mindset.

A) his hatred will never be a good foundation for an ally, only a backstabber looking for every avenue to get rid of everyone. keeping him alive means keeping him secure and away from enemies that could farm him for info. too much effort with our resources. unless we want to put in the time to manipulate or break him, it's time to tie up this loose end.

Probably for the best Peary left. Angels and Demons could never really get along. And as rulers of a kingdom that has to make difficult decisions like this, it would not really work with her as a long term ally.

Let's close and lock Kenku's body back in the chest and take it with us. We'll have to decide whether to send him to Skeleton Lips so Kenku can be a potential zombie ally through necromancy, Migreveo to use as a scarecrow for the worms to use (the irony is not lost on me), or Cantaloup to give him a proper funeral.

As for how we did, while some things didn't go our way, like forming an alliance with the heroes guild or with Steinhardt, we did gather a bunch of information that can be useful, and items that can potentially be useful like that letter seal dizelu gave us to start talks with bannister, or that coin. and found some opportunities for potential new allies like fear feaster and Crimson Inquisitor. Overall from this meeting, I'm thinking if a lot of people of power don't think much of us, forming alliances with people next in line to rule their kingdoms or just started ruling might be the way to go, heirs like Nasty Shit and Leaf Leader. I know we weren't too thrilled about Leaf Leader, as he's a bit of a pervert, but he proved himself useful. Next opportunity we get to dream, I recommend visiting his dream to strengthen our bond.

There was also the daughter of that mantis lady who ran away. I know she wanted us to find her daughter, but if we find her, perhaps we should help the daughter out with breaking traditions with her mother regarding eating her future husband's head.

Overall, a mixture of all three choices, but mainly A.

Le shrug. Dunno how we could have improved on this. Definitely could have gone worse. Still looks like our biggest win related to Dredge is the trash panda dude. We replace the artifact with a replica and Dredge loses his big advantage.

Just realized something, on second thought, don’t close the chest when we put Kenku in there, and have someone keep an eye on his body until he is secured in the castle. Knowing Pure Pear and her powers, she could very well take Kenku away if we keep him in a closed chest, just like how she transported spy rat into the lantern earlier.

I also want to pitch an idea: bring Kenku to Skull Lips, and use necromancy to bring his body to life and our side. We can then send him to Iron Dredge’s army to act as a mole for us and feed us information and sabotage them if need be. Everyone here will have to keep Kenku death a secret here for this to work.

>>1131117 Except Peary knows and is free to expose the undead. Our spy rats should be enough with the cat and her helper gone. However what did trash panda mean by "wake you up?" He got necro-stuff? Sad we had to be foes Kenku but you made your choices. Perhaps it's just myself who hopes this but sleep well. For it is a military virtue to appropriately dignify both the defeated and those who died when we can do so.

if you don't know, a death mask is when you take a plaster cast of their face and use that as a mold for a face replica

Too much information, Robert. I'm starting to think that we're the only mentally stable ones here in this world. But then, would that mean we're the odd ones out? Maybe we should lean into that crazy?

A. I don't like this guy (don't let him know that), but beggars can't be choosers, and he did help us, and has shown to be very professional. He's just lucky he's really good at his job.

But I ask that he waits before he starts trying to burgle Iron Dredge so we can send our spies to gather intel for him (find traps, hidden blindspots, plan out routes, listen in on our enemies). Iron Dredge is on another level, and while Robert is outstanding as a thief, I want to make sure we plan things out to make things safer, or at least easier on him. This is a pretty big task after all, and anything worth doing is worth doing well. For now, ask what info he'll need that our spies can gather.

and before we send our spies, we will need fear feaster Fearaia to eat the spies' fears, considering what happened with Shadow Taker.

What do we do with Kenku's body though? would Migreveo (and the worms) want it? or do we keep it hidden? can't give to skull lips without the head.

And Bobbie, I know it feels wrong to call yourself a monster queen after killing a monster, but he and Shadow Taker wanted your entire kingdom to suffer and die. Unfortunately, we are going to get monsters that will hate you and want you dead no matter what you do. It's a big world after all. It's your followers that you have to think and care about and protect from humans, and yes, sometimes other monsters alike.
Also, human kings and queens kill other evil humans from time to time, this isn't different.
