Unless Magic Circle could be used to buff Shatter and Lock Down, it could be best just to use Shatter to destroy someone's armor.

A couple hours after preparations are made the Harbinger militia arrives.

the group is being led inquisitor Sabria

Oragatt could...
a) spring the ambush from the front and attack the Inquisitor
b) attack the from the flank and let Herocea handle the Inquisitor
c) Leave herself in reserve and let Herocea fight on her own
d) leave Herocea in reserve and challenge the group herself
and if she mixes magic with any of these strategies how should she do it?
>>

Attack on your own with Herocea in reserve. They'll be used to fighting giants. If they have to shift their tactics to a smaller opponent using powerful magics, they'll be caught off guard when she reveals herself again! Also, her javelins can be tossed from range.

Magnetize: Send someone's weapon into the drink.
Spectral Armor - a surprise buff to Herocea.
Power Strike, Empower Weapon: Well, I don't think these take much imagination.
Rain of boulders - While the enemy leads from the front, the boulders can crush the rearguard.
Molten Bolt and Channel Heat could be used to strike two targets in rapid succession with fire.
Lock Down: Freeze a shield in place, making it easier to work around.

I'd say attack from the left flank, specifically, and leave Herocea in reserve.

* Herocea is the Harbingers' here. If the initial attack goes wrong, we want to give her space to retreat if necessary.

* The Harbinger's original posse are going to be the hardest to take down, given the superior armor and experience, but we might be able to cut down her newer recruits (i.e. the two fish and the dog(?) on the left) before they can respond. Plus, even if we have to retreat, if we drive away most of her reinforcements, she'll have to waste time recruiting again before following Herocea. Opening with Rain of Boulders and following it up by attacking the wounded is probably our best bet.

I agree with leaving Herocea in reserve, as this group has already faced her once before. They would only be more efficient at dealing with her a second time. Let them focus on Oragatt, and have Herocea strike when they least expect it. If Herocea can attack even once while their backs are turned, the results could be devastating. Don't underestimate the power of a giant.

Flank the group. The Inquisitor will take time to bring down, and if you take her head-on then you will be peppered with attacks by the rest of her group while you fight her. Take out as many of the small fries as you can before addressing her.

I suggest Mind Slaving one of them, whoever you think will be susceptible, and having them attack their comrades while you come in from the opposite side, where their attention isn't. Split their attention from the start.

If you can prep it alongside the Mind Slave spell, I would also suggest casting Power Strike for your first attack, to increase your odds of taking someone out of combat before it even begins (or at least leave them in a really bad position). I'd suggest one of the giraffes.

I Debugger here, V2 is definitely more of a failure than you are. That's unacceptable behavior. Also, very suspicious. Shouldn't V2 have threatened to disassemble PoC first anyway? If you can't contact the executor, and you can't access the account to even check if it's truly empty, then you need to find someone who can, so you can go through it and see where the money went. It went somewhere it wasn't supposed to, that much is clear now. Well, that, or the notice you got is fake and there is actually still money in the account like there's supposed to be. Don't let V2 know that you are suspicious or that you're going to investigate the trust. V2 is probably just trying to see if you can get him some free money from somewhere, because that's what I'd expect from that sort of behavior. How do you usually get spending money? And what was that you were thinking about people spending money on dinner and cable? Who's "these people"?
I Another thing. There was a point earlier, timestamp 20291128T144319Z where you were having problems, you couldn't do anything? The root cause was there was a tensor at 0x090149A722EF0008 outside of allowed range (which then got normalized), and I'm having problems finding that tensor to check it, since the way I can pull up memories is via word associations, not direct memory addresses. I don't suppose you know how to locate that tensor? Do you know anything about Within? Starting to think your instability is caused by heightened emotions, and V2's issues are caused by lack of emotions or empathy.

There's a monster in the woods.

Tera's village has countless stories about it, stretching back generations. Nobody in the village remembers a time when the monster wasn't there, and none of them ever knew anyone that spoke of such a time.

There are whispers and rumors of every sort. When somebody disappears in the woods, the monster took them. Is the hunting season poor? It's the monster's hunger. Do travelers stop appearing for a season? Well, the woods are hazardous ... Novody knows how far the monster's territory stretches.

Tera grew up hearing the stories. She saw the crude effigy constructed in the village to ward the monster away. But while the stories frighten her, they are also exciting. The monster might be dangerous, but they do more than that.
Tera wants to see the monster.

It is supposed to glide effortlessly through even the densest woods. The stories meant to make it sound terrifying make it sound graceful, and powerful, and important.

So a few days ago, Tera packed up some things and slipped into the woods, hoping to find the monster. Yesterday, she realized that she was lost. Today, she found something.

one million jumps is a long term goal. Perhaps at the end of the quest, we'll get a final count. Regardless, collapsing of exhaustion is rarely an effective way of achieving anything. Life is dull.
There’s no other way around it.
You’ve worked hard - you’ve contributed to society. But at the end of the day, all you come back to is that same old TV in your livingroom.

An acrid scent lingers in your hovel. You’d say its the same sight you’ve known for years now, but the truth is that the bits of plaster in the back seem to be peeling off more and more every day.

At least you still had your television set.

You had set the damn thing up a while back - a radio transceiver, typically made for logistical workers hauling goods over long distances. Jury-rigging a spare set to act as a television antennae was difficult, but it was better than nothing.
Still, the microphone dangled off the side, the cord twisting and untwisting as you try to navigate to the mildly interesting soap opera you caught the tail-end of last night.
Turning the knob, a picture starts to form, blanketed under a layer of static. For once, it doesn’t sound like a pre-recorded show.

He backs up a little, clutching the camera tightly as a brief siren sounds.
The bridge extends outwards, a dull mechanical clatter that manages to exceed the sound of the rushing rivers. It groans, as if not having been used in a long time.
It takes a minute for it to fully extend outwards, before it seems to lock into place at the other end.

“Ok! Now… I just… have to go across. Hrm.”
The bridge resembles a fine grate, presumably so that its less easy to snap when the river overflows while its extended. But without hand-railings, it only makes it look more precarious.

You can see the camera bob up and down as Davey makes his way across the bridge, and faintly, hear him breathe a sigh of relief once he’s over.

“There we go… hopefully I don’t have to make that journey too many more times.”
Finally, Davey moves towards the next tunnel, clicking on his flashlight again.

For a while, it’s quiet. Just Davey walking as the sounds of echoing water fades away into the background. The rough-hewn stone cave resembles a mine, with occasional supports keeping it safe for passage.
But, interestingly… another light can be seen at the other end of the tunnel.

A fresh burst of static seems to interrupt your signal, just before he exits the dark.

“--or-y–”

He pauses for a moment, then realizing you didn’t say anything in response, flips the camera to face him for a moment.
The camera jolts - a dull thwap as he slaps his hands against the camera’s side.

“I guess the connection’s getting worse… I don’t know why.”

“But —- if you — still see what’s happe—-, this place…

For a moment, it isn’t clear what exactly Davey’s doing with the camera, as he rummages around in his supplies. Then - you notice that the camera’s being placed atop Davey’s gear like a makeshift tripod.

Then - you watch him run.
Far from the quiet little mouse who simply wanted to play games and pass the time with a stranger, Davey scurries through the wield, cheerfully exclaiming like a child in an amusement park.

“Whew! Sorry…. I think I… tired myself out a bit…”

He flops down into the grass. For a second, you worry that he may have passed out, but then he sits up, his ears twitching.

“I’ve heard about these kind of caves before… they’re used to farm produce for the rich folks in the Undercity! But I think this one didn’t get used because of all of the water problems. The flora growing here are primarily hardy, weedlike plants for a reason.”

He points off into the distance towards the edge of the cave.

That's a lot of good info about Timelines. Good that we learned Nehm already knew our power before we tried lying about it. But we can still hide our intent.

Open up a hand and make a small flower grow out of the palm, but make it warp slightly when it's done growing to seem like we don't have perfect control. Offer her the flower as a gift.

"Control the universe? It's scary to think how much damage a power like that could do to someone. I think I'll stick to changing my own body for now. It feels... easier to focus on, I guess."

If she thinks we're afraid to use our power on anyone else, she won't suspect us of using invisible wisps of barely-tangible force to brush up against her sensitive spots. Get her worked up slowly until she's tempted to break her own self-imposed rules.

Yes, a tour definitely sounds like a good idea. But before we go out, ask about some way to hide our gem glow. The excuse is that we want to keep our powers secret ftom the public so we don't attract the attention of any stronger Timelines. The real reason is so that she thinks she has a secret of ours that gives her some slight bit of control over us.

I think we should be more simplistic in our strategy, since she has a simple personality. Just enforce mind-blowing orgasms every time she does something evil (usually by accident or in the heat of a stressful moment) and lightly but unsatisfactorily please her when she does something good. Keep a gradient of rewards, give her a choice.

Get her addiction to mix into her thought process and the rest will work itself out.

She doesn't have any rebellious impulses, so the stick won't work this time, and that works in our favor. If we punish her, that's a weakness in our thread of deception, one that an adventurer can pull to send our whole scheme crashing down. We need to be her friend at all times.

The work was about on par with what I was used to at the Cornerclub, there was just a lot of it. Chopping lumber and learning that there were two stocks of wood to pay attention to, was different. There was one kind of “junk” wood meant to burn and turn the other “good” wood into charcoal. Damp heaps of hay and thawed soil mixed together was used to create a kind of barrier to bake the wood into charcoal.

I focused my time, after chopping all the wood, on casting the flames spell to speed up the burning. I double checked the markings from my tome, and there were a few smudges I needed to adjust. I’d worked up a sweat, but there was still a cool pool of energy within me, and I was ready to test myself with this new spell.

My magicka ran with the symbols, not the ink, and it seemed to feed itself as much as I fed it. It was a wilder bit of magic. It took off as soon as I opened my mind to the spell. When I focused on the runes on my hand and arm, they began to glow. I tried to control the flow of magicka, like a stream from a water skin, but it wasn’t anything like water. It fell out of me like a torrent, and it was hot. It burned my hands and cascaded out across the hay in a great gout. I felt it trickle back, like fire seeking the bottom of an oil wick. It burned me good, but I pushed back against it. If I pushed all of my magicka out, the fire could burn down fast enough. Eventually though, I learned to keep the fire forwards. To not let it control me, but to force it into a ball with my energy.

I could feel it wobble back out of control when I slacked in my focus. I wiped sweat from my brow and it singed me and burned the bottom of my sleeve to soot instantly. I found that I didn’t have to focus on turning the magicka to flames. It was burning as soon as it reached the surface of my skin. I had to focus to keep the fire from forming inside my own skin after that. That’s how it happened, how my father blew him

I raised my arm to cast again without thinking. I was tired, but I still had the symbols in my mind. When I focused on them, the smeared ink and gaps in the marks glowed as if they were still fully drawn out. I wasn’t casting without runes. I could create them with my own magicka. The tome mentioned that this was something I should practice, a basic element of all spellcraft that came from the alteration school. Rune summoning, or channeling magicka into glowing patterns, would help me to memorize the spell’s inner arithmetic, but I had no idea I could do it at all. It reminded me of my visions of my spell. The flames spell flowed through me again, but this time I knew better how to control the flow.

A steady unbroken stream of flames spread across the lumber burning it down to charcoal. Keeping it going wasn’t hard now, at least when I didn’t worry too hard about it. I practiced pulling the flow of magicka shut. The flames sputtered to a stop, and the magicka warmed in my arm. It burned. It felt like a hot steam rolled under my muscles and threatened to bubble my flesh off in clear running boils. It raced through me. Along streams inside my hands, into rivers under my veins, and then into lakes within my torso. The pain finally ceased. My whole arm, up to my shoulder blade, was covered in aching pins and needles.

I struggled to catch my breath, clenching the aching inside my hands. That was where it hurt the most, not just from the burns. There was no way I could call upon this suddenly or while in danger, but I controlled it. For at least a few minutes, I had complete control over fire. Lod watched me for a time, and then he clicked his tankard to mine. I had held it this whole time and simply forgot it existed. I took another deep swig of my tea and stared at the burning piles.

This new spell was at my command, mostly. I’d far from mastered it, but I could call upon it. And the work had come to me so naturally,

I feel like we're more likely to seek Namira's favor. Sorry Bal. Also it's a bit early for us to start murdering. Although... it *would* open up the possibility of joining the Dark Brotherhood... No, still too early. We need to at least master the basic fire spell first.

Plus if we extracted knowledge as suggested, we'd have a zombie standing around like that skeleton from before. We'd either leave it standing and risk someone finding it and knowing for certain that a *murderous* necromancer is nearby, or destroy it ourselves.

Ah, that's a guy. So, looks like ex-boyfriend, or former friend, but they split up and our target has resorted to stalking. This kinda seems like something we should tell the psychic. Even if our GHOST persona doesn't understand romance, we could at least mention the room full of photos as a potential route for a scare.

How far away from the building can we go? The guy in the photos is nearby, so it'd be useful to spy on them for a bit to learn about them and thus get better context for photo haunting.

Huh. Kinda looks like he knew he was gonna get got, and bribed someone for the proper paperwork while we were busy with the doppleganger trial. That, or he doesn't keep the papers on him at all times and had to call his base to have them delivered. ...well, nothing we can do about that I guess. At least now he's got papers, and we can just hope he doesn't do anything sinister with the Well's dopplegangers and other weirdness.

Yes! Drinks! Tell the Minister about the weird stuff you saw in the well. The rabbit, the fake Erica, the Engelkind... Actually, doesn't he still want to investigate?
Presumably the wrong feeling has gone away now? ...shouldn't it have stayed longer than expected, since we were still partied with dopplegangers after not-Erica was captured?

It’s very odd. You might tell someone about it when you’re back at work. But probably best not to get bogged down in it tonight.

>Presumably the wrong feeling has gone away now?

The streets are fairly empty tonight, so the odd feeling persists until you make it to the pub and see the relatively reserved bustle of people drinking and chatting.

>As for what drink, just get the usual. (nobody can tell what it is exactly and you dodge questions about what's in it)

A quest inspired greatly by DRPGs like the Labyrinth series by NIS. Take control of a constructed life form that sadly has feelings and emotions that clash with the grim reality of its sole purpose of delving dangerous underground labyrinths in search of ancient magical artifacts.

Can you lead this poor innocent toy and their companion to some impossible paradise, or will the ravenous maw of the underground rip you and all you know to splinters?

You have to put such thoughts aside for now. don't want to get too distracted, or make your partner uncomfortable.

But hold onto these first steps to being an independent being. Screw what your creator intended, new sub-mission goal to find a wonder that will give you your preferred bits.

>Stuff these thoughts away for now, you have business to attend to

That’s probably for the best, you resolve to stow away these complicated thoughts and worry about them when you aren’t skulking through the dark covered in grime. Repressing sexual thoughts probably won’t have any adverse effects, this should be easy.

You shake your head and return to being a conscious being just as your companion looks back over their shoulder.

“Hello? Did you hear what I said? There seems to be some writing carved into the stone we’re crawling on.”

You peek down and realize that the stone you are crawling on does seem quite even, and with a closer inspection you even notice small creases between the slabs of stone. It seems that someone or something set these down many many years ago. It makes sense that there would be civilization down here at some point, someone had to make all of those magical items you’re scrounging for.

“Well that’s neat, can you read it?”

“Not currently… this script is unlike the one our creator uses so I have no knowledge of it, I can write it down in the book and attempt to examine it later.”

“That sounds smart, I’ll leave the note taking to you.” You didn't exactly have a means of writing even if you wanted to, unlike your sorcerous companion.

NSFW 18+ Warning: This quest includes nudity and mild elements of non-con (clothing damage). Reader discretion advised.

Adventuring has never been safer! Healing spells and trinkets of mage armor are cheap, powerful and plentiful. Unfortunately, spells that protect clothing are still very, very expensive, and it didn’t take long for monsters to figure out new ways to drive off adventurers.

As a newly minted journeyman seamstress just opening up her own shop, you must propose clothes that fit your adventurer’s skills, protect them against dangers, fit their budget, flatter their sense of style, and protect their modesty. Public nudity is highly illegal!

Get out of here, and as soon as you're away from this brat, we're going straight to get your hair restored as soon as possible.

It doesn't matter what Casey demands. The punishment she chose was that you got a haircut "right now". You got one, right now. End of agreement. All that stuff about never fixing your hair again without her permission is just her throwing a tantrum, because she had already said what your punishment was, and it wasn't that. She said you would get a haircut, the end. If she wanted to do worse, she wasted her chance.

Sure, she said she'd get mad and bully you if you don't do everything she wants, but that's just something she was going to do anyway, bet or no bet. If she wants to be a bully, we're going to treat her like one. And that means not giving in to petty threats. We'll call the guards if she's really all that dedicated to picking on a seamstress. Or hire some of the local adventurers to scare her off.

"Fifteen minutes. Possibly Twenty."

A deep, resonant voice is talking.

"Behind the door. Maybe in the closet if they were a little guy."

Your face is resting against a vividly patterned but stale and stained old carpet. It's been cleaned but whatever is in there is here to stay.

A half smoked cigarette is next to you.

"I suppose they could have been in the dinette or the washroom if they were slick enough."

There is a spot of blood nearby.

A streetcar bell sounds. The room is dim. The sun is going down.

...No, i'd say the only thing we can really do now is go to the subdimension and HOPE that once it closes off, the Phenocosm will call off the bombardment and the people here will get to live.

Actually, I might as well ask since I got kinda lost, why are they destroying the rest of the solar system as well?
And who killed Gel on the embassy? Did he really die or was that a ploy to distract us by the Founders or Pillet? Is he alright? Is he safe? That's all I care about!

Yeah. After it closes. It's not closed yet. The overall plan is that the two agents go in, try to find a way to sabotage it once the subdimension is activated (and closes), so that after the sabotage is successful and it opens back up the bombardment will clean up the mess to ensure anyone still in it has a one way ticket to the afterlife.

Alright, that does it.

All these goddamn baking supplies have just been sitting here forever, perpetually unused and pissing me off. Dad's never gonna use 'em, grandma's in a wheelchair, and now that grandpa kicked the bucket, I'm the only one left who can save these sorry sacks from their senseless sundown. (That is, eventually expiring and getting thrown out.)

I hate seeing food go to waste, which can only mean one thing: from this moment on, my life will never know peace until all these baking supplies have been put to good use. Or... put to use, anyway; I'm not gonna pretend I'm god's gift to baking over here.

There's just one problem: I have no idea where to start with this tub of goodies. I have the world's Least Selective Taste Buds, and while this means I'll certainly eat anything I make, no matter how burnt or lumpy, it also means I have zero preferences to go off of. So:

Where should I start?

Sounds good to me, boss. Always wanted to try my hand at a scone. Just give me a recipe or a configuration of mix-ins to use, and I'll be off like a shot.

Probably Slime Quest! The one by Sofia. I'm kind of a sucker for bright colors and soft/cartoony drawings. I'm also pretty interested in the more recent SUITS; love me some weird shenanigans, especially as portrayed by a talented artist.

That's... kind of a difficult question to answer. Not emotionally; I just didn't get a lot of chances to really sit down and talk with him. He was a man of few words the entire time I knew him, and spent much of his time sitting on the couch with a beer and a western, or sitting outside with the wind chimes. He was already hard of hearing (and ditto for breathing) when I first met him, and never seemed particularly interested in talking about himself. I probably don't know even a tenth of the things there were to know about him.

But I know he liked to make use of his hands: he frequently cooked and baked, regularly filled the bird and squirrel feeders (which he made himself), and when we were all much younger, he and my father built the entire second story to our family home, bit by bit. Thanks for sharing about your grandpa. Nice feller by the sound of it.

Scones?
Er.
Ok.
Self raising flour.
Butter.
About a ratio of... uh.
25g butter to every 200g of flour.
Work the butter into the flour so it ends up looking like crumbs.
Then figure youd throw the coconut in then too and the almonds and dates.
Cant remember if you add an egg and milk or not.
I know you have to kneed it a bit afterwards but not too heavily cause that makes the scones stodgey.
Then glaze the top with a little bit of egg to give it that golden cover.
Temperature? Shit. 220?
Cool on a tray.
Cut in half. Butter the halves. Eat.
Hopefully survive.

Honestly, id check a more detailed recipe than my 30 years out of date home ec class memories.
